Nettles! Stinging Nettles!!
Last year, I planted some (yes, on purpose) behind the garage so I would never have to convince my lazy ass to forage in the woods. Now I don’t have to venture too far away from my kitchen sink to harvest a delicious source of iron (and the gloves, always remember the gloves!)
See those little spiky hairs? Don’t touch those –
Put them in a pot after you rinse them, add butter and sauté !!
Smelling like earth in here!!
And taste test…
and it’s good!! I enjoyed these butter soaked & salted nettles on top of thinly sliced bread with a side of butternut squash.
Now, that was one piece of bread too many for me so I chopped it up into squares and put it in the fridge until today’s lunch…
I added the chopped bread and leftover cooked nettles to my scrambled eggs!
Oh yes oh yes oh Yum yes – it was so good, with ketchup.
